Over the years, the Need for Speed franchise hasn’t been afraid to try new things, or even go back to earlier ideas to expand on them. In the case of Need for Speed Most Wanted Black Edition, this was the franchise’s return to daylight racing and re-introduced the racer’s biggest adversary: the police.

Before long, the player gets associated with the Blacklist, a rundown of the most infamous racers in Rockport, and continues to challenge Razor, the number 15 on the.
  • Another contender for the title of 'best NFS game' by the fanbase, Need for Speed: Most Wanted took the open world and (some of) the aftermarket car customization aspects of Underground 2, put them in a gritty city called Rockport, and trimphantly brought back the cop chases for good measure.

Released in 2005 for the PC, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360; Most Wanted tells a story told through the lens of a driver who’s new onto the racing scene in Rockport City. You quickly find out there’s a leaderboard of underground racers called the Black List. Your goal: Reach certain milestones within the game to earn the right to face these ranked racers. These milestones vary, but an example would be reaching a certain speed while being caught in a speed trap. You’ll also need to earn a certain level or respect, which is earned by getting into high-speed chases with the police.

Most Wanted has been released for Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and is the first Need for Speed game released for the seventh generation console, the Xbox 360, as one of the system's launch titles. Another version of Most Wanted, titled Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 is a PlayStation Portable port of Most Wanted, released on the same day as its console and personal computer counterparts. Similar to Most Wanted, Most Wanted 5-1-0 features a similar Blacklist 15 listing and Career Mode, with the addition of “Tuner Takedown”, a “Be the Cop” mode not featured on Most Wanted.

Here is where the game truly shines. The police chases within Most Wanted offer an experience unlike many other racing games, even until this day. As you tear through the city, hills, and highways of Rockport; you’ll start to increase your Heat level. As your Heat level grows, you’ll begin to be chased by the police. At first, the cops can be shaken quite easily. However, as you get further into the game and begin to reach higher Heat levels, it starts to get real. You’ll start to hear chatter on the radio regarding what they play to do, which may involve bringing out a helicopter or laying spike strips on the road ahead of you. This gives you a bit of time to react, but you’ll still need to be smart to escape. To do so, simply hide from the police on your radar. If you’re boxed in and busted by the police, you’ll lose your rewards and need to start that run over. These chases remind me of ones that you’d see straight out of a chase scene in an action movie such as The Transporter or The Fast and The Furious.

As you make your way through the Black List beating racers, you’ll earn money, upgrades, and possibly even the racer’s car. These rewards are chosen at random by you after these races, so you won’t always know what you’ll be getting. This feature keeps the player from being able to upgrade their cars and play exactly as they want. This might frustrate some, but it does give the game a bit of variety – albeit in a forced way. You’ll still be able to choose how to spend your money, so feel free to upgrade your spoiler or rims, or go the performance route and upgrade the engine and wheels.

Get In, We're Going for a Ride

If you’re a car enthusiast, you’ll see a few favorites in the game such as the Ford Mustang GT or the Toyota Supra; but it doesn’t have a roster that will absolutely blow you away. Certain cars, such as the Black List’s racers’ cars, will have upgraded versions. If you beat Vic, you might even get his customized Toyota Supra. I enjoyed racing in my Mitsubishi Eclipse before eventually upgrading to the BMW M3 GTR.

Xbox

The graphics and sound quality are great circa 2005, although you may enjoy the more recent Need for Speed Most Wanted (2015) game a bit more if graphics, music, and sound design are your main requirements for a fun racing game.

The game obviously looks best on the Xbox 360, while playing the Black Edition. This edition adds more cars and some behind the scenes content for those interested in the game’s development. For the music and sound, they’re great for their time. The cars and collisions sound beefy and you’re treated to an intense orchestra once police chases start to ramp up.

Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005) ends up being one of the franchises’ highest quality entries. The competitive races, interesting cut scenes, and action-packed police chase churns out an experience worth diving into, even in 2020. If you’re looking for a chance of pace from previous iterations in the series such as Need for Speed Underground & Need for Speed Underground 2, you might find what you’re looking for here.

Pros

Nfs Most Wanted 2005 Xbox 360 Iso Download

Nissan 350Z

Nfs Most Wanted 2005 Xbox 360 Iso Free

The folder CARS/350Z indicates that a Nissan 350Z was going to appear. Unfortunately, the only remnants of the 350Z are two files in that folder (PREVINYL.BIN and VINYLS.BIN). It was featured in its prequel, Underground 2 and later featured in Most Wanted's sequel, Carbon. It was probably removed due to licensing issues because there are no Nissan cars in the final game.

Also, a frontend node for the Nissan 350Z was located in the VLTEd data of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, however, it is not located inside vehicles due to the brand being cut. However, the errors listed on the car are that it's cost, region and UnlockedAt is set to 0, and it uses Aston Martin's manufacturer ID of 21, instead of Nissan's manufacturer ID is in the Unlimiter, which is 13. Also, a verbal type where the police calls the player's car as a Nissan also went unused.

However, a mod by Zvott96 adds the Nissan 350Z as an addon car, converted from Need for Speed: Carbon.

Also, a hidden tires node with the word skyline indicates there were some evidences that the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) was also going to originally appear, but licensing reasons also cut the manufacturer from the car list.

BMW M3 E46

To do:
Find a picture of the Windows model to make a comparison.

Some pre-release screenshots and game files indicate that the BMW M3 E46 (the base model; the player's titular blue-striped car is the GTR race model) was supposed to be in the game. However, the Windows and PlayStation 2 versions still have the body mesh and car logo in the files. The Windows version doesn't have any proper materials assigned for the vehicle, resulting in a black shape, but the PlayStation 2 version still has the materials intact. Textures still exist in the game's data. While both versions of the model have misplaced wheels and feature customization parts with the exception of bodykits and some missing hoods, the PS2 one has working visual modifications (including some early vinyls and a bugged number customization) with the only things missing being some decal positioning (panels, rear window and some door slots). This car was later introduced in ProStreet. Also, a mod by EllisRacing restores the cut M3 E46 to the game.

A language string for the BMW M3 CSL (E46) also exists in the Languages files, however, due to the somewhat incomplete translation, it is listed as BMW M3 CSL - BUG.

Traffic Vehicles

To do:
These are (sort of) drive-able with some hacks on the Windows version, get some good pictures

The files also have some traffic cars that were cut, although they are fully complete. The vehicles are an ambulance, a camper, a truck hauling pipes, and a tanker truck. The ambulance only appears in the final game during the cutscene after the race with Rog.

Platform differences

PC, PlayStation Portable, Xbox and Xbox 360 are the only versions with online multiplayer.PC version is missing split screen mode.

Unused Presets

Two presets, one based on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR (CT9A) '03 and one based on the Lotus Elise 111R '04 are unused in the code.
